Fat Injections

A fat injection, also called fat grafting or fat transfer, is when fat from one area of your body is transferred to another area of the body. The fat is usually taken from a place in the body where you have excess fat, like your outer thighs, and moved to an area that maybe lacking in volume, such as the breasts, butt, face, or hands. Fat injections are a natural, minimally invasive treatment for people who want to boost certain features of their body or subtly smooth out wrinkles.

Who is it good for?

Because fat injections are a type of surgical procedure, it is important to consider several factors before you decide to commit to them. It may be appropriate to consider fat injections if you fall into one of the following categories: you want to reconstruct your breasts, hide obvious signs of breast implants, and fill in contour irregularities; if you want to improve the contour of your entire body, rejuvenate your hands and face, fill bodily depressions, and reverse scars; if you want a more permanent correction as opposed to one provided by temporary fillers; or if you have facial areas that appear sunken and creased.

The purpose of fat injections is to augment volume-deficient areas. Facial creases such as crow’s-feet, smile lines, and laugh lines can be improved, as can sunken areas of your face caused by acne scars. Fat injections are also used to increase breast size, so long as breasts have good skin tone and a nice shape. If you want a significant increase in breast size or have sagging breasts, this procedure is not for you. You can also augment your butt with fat, a process known as the “Brazilian butt lift”. This process commonly uses liposuction to collect the autologous fat that will be injected and sculpt the surrounding area. Lastly, you can also add volume to your hands and plump up wrinkled areas with fat injections. The longevity of the results depends on where the fat was injected, how the fat was harvested and purified, and the surgeon’s skills. When performed successfully, results are usually permanent. Sometimes, however, a certain percentage of the fat does not take, and may require touch-up procedures.

Compare

There are many different types of fat injection procedures, all of which relate to which area of the body you are transferring the fat to. There are four major areas where fat is injected: the breasts, the butt, the face, and the hands. Instead of breast implants, the fat injection procedure offers a more “natural” look and can actually help position and re-sculpt your breasts. Perhaps surprisingly to some people, the hands are another popular area. The hands are one of the first things people see, and they can look brittle with protruding tendons, bones, and veins. Ageing has its effects on absolutely everyone, and the skin can become relaxed, loose, and ultimately lose its volume. Fat injections are a great way to help remove fat from excess areas of the body to help fight off the ageing process and keep you looking young and healthy.
