Create A Routine
So you want to improve your skin but have no idea where to start? The first thing you need to do is create a routine. It can be extremely confusing to know exactly what you need to do to get amazing skin, but creating a routine is a small step in the right direction. There are numerous different skin types, so you need to find a routine that is suited to your skin type. Someone with oily skin, for example, should have a different routine than somebody with dry skin.
Who is it good for?
Effective skincare routines are good for most people, although it is important to understand that each person will require a different routine. People with different skin types, obviously, will need to use different products and different care methods.
Even people with the same skin type should create their own unique routine. This is a general overview to help you get started. Firstly, resist the temptation touch your face. It is easy to transfer dirt and bacteria from your hands to your face simply by touching it. If you have to touch your face or notice you have throughout the day, make sure to wash both your hands and your face. Once you have determined your skin type, buy skin care products designed for your skin. If you have pimples or blemishes, avoid popping them. Not only is popping them painful, but it can leave behind an ugly scar. Depending on your skin type, try to moisturize, tone, and cleanse twice a day—once before bed and once in the morning. Make it a habit that the minute you get out of bed and the minute before you get into bed you are in the bathroom applying different skincare products. Before you apply any products, make sure you wash your hands and wet your skin with warm water to open up your pores. Always finish by rinsing your skin off with cold water, and drying your face by dabbing it with paper towels or clean towel. If you have created a successful routine and have stuck with it, but notice that your skin isn’t improving, you may want to change the types of skincare products you are using.

There are many different skin types which can make it difficult understand which products to incorporate in your routine. Knowing your skin type is the first step to implementing proper skincare. Normal skin types are firm and smooth to touch with medium sized pores, and don’t get too oily or dry. People with normal skin should cleanse and moisturize. If you have dry skin, you want to find a deep moisturizer and also use a spot treatment. Oily skin should be occasionally moisturized, but you should use a spot treatment and frequently exfoliate and tone. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you find a moisturizer and cleanser that are specifically designed for sensitive skin. Using a regular moisturizer may actually cause your skin to become irritated.
