Browlift

A forehead lift is a type of facelift that fixes sagging in the skin around the eyebrows, upper eyelids, and forehead. It is used to raise sagging brows, improve frown lines, and reduce wrinkle lines in the forehead. Brow lifts can be done as individual procedures or in conjunction with an entire facelift.

Who is it good for?

Generally, the people who want to undergo a brow lift procedure are in their mid-50s and are attempting to counteract the natural aging process. It is important that you are physically healthy and don’t smoke, and that you have realistic goals.

Nothing can completely stop the aging process; it is important to accept that your appearance will change as you age. A brow lift can help to mitigate the effects of aging and give you a more youthful look, at least for awhile. Before your brow lift, there may be some lifestyle adjustments you need to make in order to successfully prepare for the procedure. Usually, you will have a consultation with the surgeon who can recommend these changes to you. You may have to avoid certain medications and alcohol. For example, if you regularly take anti-inflammatory drugs, you may have to stop taking these for a certain period of time because they can lead to increased blood loss during surgery. You may also need to get a haircut if your hair is in the way of the surgical area. You will want to make sure your home is stocked with items that you will need after your procedure. Make sure to have plenty of ice and plastic freezer bags to hold the ice. You will also want pillows, because you will need to keep your head elevated. The brow lift procedure generally takes about two hours and most patients are able to go home the same day. Careful consideration should be taken before you decide to follow through with a brow life because of the cost. In 2013, the average cost of a brow lift in the United States was over $3000. This figure does not include operating room facility costs or anesthesia, however, so this estimate is arguably on the low side. Most health insurance companies do not cover brow lift surgery. Always consider the surgeon’s experience and how comfortable you are with them as a doctor. Experience and success rates are more important than costs.

There are two different methods used to lift your eyebrow and forehead areas – the classic lift and the endoscopic lift. The classic lift involves a continuous cut that goes up and around your hairline after starting at the same level as your ears. The surgeon will try to avoid a visible scar, although depending on the where your hairline is located, this may not be possible. In the endoscopic lift, the surgeon makes a couple of small cuts in your scalp before inserting a thin tube with a small camera on the end into one of the cuts. The surgeon then secures the tissue with small anchors. This procedure is much less invasive than the classic lift because the cuts are much smaller. This lift also results in a shorter recovery time and minimal scarring.
